Fruit Cobbler

There’s something special about a simple, old-fashioned cobbler.

This family recipe uses an easy pour-over batter and whatever berries or fruit you have on hand. As it bakes, the fruit and batter come together into a warm, golden dessert that’s especially good served with a scoop of ice cream.

What You’ll Need

  • ⅓ cup butter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 cups berries or other fruit

How To Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Place the butter in a 9 x 12-inch baking dish and put it in the oven until the butter is melted.

  3. In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and milk to make the batter.

  4. Pour the batter over the melted butter. Do not stir.

  5. Spoon the berries or fruit over the top.

  6. Bake for 45–60 minutes, or until the cobbler is golden brown and cooked through.

Serve warm on its own or with a scoop of ice cream.
