Financial Tools for Parents and Kids

At Birch Community Services, we know every family’s financial journey looks different. Whether you’re planning for your child’s future, preparing for college, or simply looking for ways to build healthy money habits at home, having the right tools can make a big difference.

That’s why we offer practical resources to help families take meaningful steps toward greater stability, freedom, and legacy, one step at a time.

Saving for College with 529 Plans through Embark

Planning for your child’s future can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to education costs. Through our partnership with Embark, Birch families have access to a 529 savings code to help them take practical steps toward saving for future education.

A 529 plan can be a valuable tool for building toward college or other qualified education expenses over time.

If you’re interested in learning more or getting started, connect with your Financial Literacy Counselor to talk through your next steps.

Your Educational Journey: A Debt-Free Guide

Higher education can create opportunities, but it can also bring financial pressure and significant debt. Your Educational Journey: A Debt Free Guide helps families and students explore practical ways to prepare for college with less financial stress.

This Birch class is for any participants wanting to learn about changing careers, starting a new one, building college funding, or planning for a toddler's future. It will cover practical ways to achieve your educational goals debt-free!

The goal isn’t just getting to college, it’s making thoughtful decisions now that support greater freedom later. Keep an eye out for this course later this year (available after you have taken Re$tart)!

Make Your Kid a Money Genius (Even If You’re Not)

Money habits often start young. That’s why we offer resources like Make Your Kid a Money Genius (Even If You’re Not)—a practical guide for parents who want to build healthy money conversations at home.

The book breaks down practical ways to connect with kids about money at different ages. It offers simple, age-appropriate approaches so parents can meet their kids where they are. Whether they’re just learning basic concepts or starting to make their own spending decisions, this is a great tool for parents to utilize.

Birch families can request a copy of the book through their Financial Literacy Counselor as another tool to support financial learning at home.

Growing Skills Together

Financial Literacy Bingo cards are still available at check-in! Families can take them home, complete them over the summer, and return them between July 1st and August 15th. It’s a simple, fun way to keep financial learning going all summer long.

We believe financial growth happens in families, not just individuals. As parents take steps toward stability, they’re also creating space for their kids to learn, ask questions, and grow in confidence with money, ultimately building a stronger legacy together.
